Happy Mother’s Day!
This is a Mother’s Day that is extra special. This year is my first Mother’s Day as a mother, myself. I have finally crossed over to the other side of the celebration. I have so much more of an understanding now how my mother has felt on this day (and everyday) all these years. I feel so privileged and proud to be a mother to Fisher. He has truly changed my whole entire universe. The moment I saw him come into this world on June 23, 2017 was the greatest moment of my entire life!
Today we also celebrate all the ladies in our family, and our special traditions. One tradition in my family that has been around since before I was even born is collecting MacKenzie-Childs pieces. I have grown up around the line all my life, and it has always been something the women in my family cherish. Each piece is something special and means something to each of our collections. When birthdays, Christmas, or Mother’s Day comes around we know we will all be gifting one another a piece of MacKenzie-Childs. MacKenzie-Childs plates, platters, dishes, glassware, and décor come out for every baby shower, birthday, holiday, anniversary.. or sometimes just because! We love it all!
I decided to get some special ladies together for a fun shoot showcasing my Aunt Kick’s gorgeous MacKenzie-Childs filled home. My grandmother, Carolynn Nelson, and my Aunt Kick each have a fabulous collection, but my Aunt’s house is truly spectacular. We set up the prettiest table setting with all things MacKenzie-Childs from her Taylor Collection. These are original pieces she has collected from the very beginning, so they are some of her absolute favorites. We mixed some Courtly Check into the décor to really make the pastels pop. She has everything from the salt and pepper shakers to the napkin rings. GORGEOUS! This is such a fun and beautiful collection that is perfect for a Mother’s Day brunch. I decided to incorporate a green and white floral arrangement to finish off the setting with something fresh.
Aside from her massive collection of ceramic serving ware her entire home holds so many intricate details. Each bathroom is adorned with MacKenzie-Childs and each one is different in design. There is MacKenzie-Childs tile surrounding the mirrors, baseboards, and shower ceilings. Showering and looking up at Courtly Check tile was an experience. Her kitchen holds the biggest collection of Frank and Mustard pieces I have ever seen. From the MacKenzie-Childs chandeliers to the tuffets in every room she has it all, and her home is truly something you must see to believe! I didn’t want to leave!
Today, I’ll be setting my table with my new MacKenzie-Childs Sweetbriar dinner plates for a special Mother’s Day meal. I’ve had my mother and her mother here visiting us the last two weeks and we have had the best time. Three generations together. One thing I will always think of when I pull some of my favorite MacKenzie-Childs pieces out are the memories made over the years celebrating and enjoying one another with this beautiful collection. MacKenzie-Childs has been a part of the family for decades, and I can’t wait to pass the tradition on to my children.
Hope you all have a fabulous Mother’s Day! Scroll down to see more of my Aunt Kick’s amazing home!
Love, B
