If there’s one thing about me I am most certain of it’s that I have a thing about textiles. I am a rug fanatic and will center an entire room around the perfect rug. I love layering them and if you come over one day you’ll see that I have plenty around the house in various places. Even though I have all carpeting upstairs in the bedrooms there are still rugs to add color and coziness to our guests’ rooms, and downstairs to add soft touches to the tile flooring.

There’s something about the perfect rug that can make the whole room smile, so when we decided to switch out the old shag rug from the den I knew that this was going to be a big decision. The den is family zone #1 and our main hangout spot, so choosing the next rug was going to be a big deal. I was so sick of the old shag rug. It was so nice at first; super soft and luxurious, but ended up being extremely hard to clean. It was also rather boring being completely one solid tan color and didn’t give a whole lot of character.. It was time to add some flair!

Fortunately, I had recently found a few rugs that I absolutely fell in love with. They were accent rugs with amazing quality. I found the first one.. then the second.. and then I was hooked. I had to collect this particular brand. I discovered that the rugs were from a company called, Loloi Rugs, which happens to be the same company that Joanna Gaines partnered with for her line of rugs and pillows! EVEN MORE IN LOVE NOW. They were made of wool and were all so uniquely designed. I am still swooning over the tassel features of my rugs and I can’t tell you what a difference they’ve made in our home. The colors, textures, and designs… I get a little giddy every time I have to step over them!

For the den I wanted to go completely all in with color. This room doesn’t get a whole lot of natural light, so adding a large rug with color can really help brighten up a space like ours. After searching through Rugs Direct I finally landed on the PERFECT one. It is the same design as my runner behind the couch, so being that they matched made it that much more perfect and collective for this room. You don’t always have to match the rugs exactly when designing a room, but this just happened to be my absolute favorite pattern. I grabbed an 8×10 Zharah ZR-05 Teal/Berry rug (in case you love it as much as I do and want to order it).

This area rug has tassels like the runner does which makes me love it even more. Just put tassels on everything is what I think! It couldn’t look better against the dark wood flooring and chocolate leather couch, and it did exactly what I was hoping it would do. It has really livened it up in here and is so cozy. There is somewhat of a rustic/boho chic vibe in here now and I’m ecstatic!

I have a lot planned for this space, but one thing to always remember when you’re transforming a room is that rugs add depth, warmth, and character, so make sure to consider those things when planning out a design. It can be a difficult decision to make, but with Loloi Rugs at Rugs-direct.com you are going to have tons of options to choose from! From simplicity to a tad more eclectic (like me) there is a rug for everyone and every space, and you will not be disappointed.

If you have any questions about the look and feel of the rug I chose for the den please comment below, and I’ll be happy to answer! Also, go to rugsdirect for more information on all the different varieties of collections available. There are tons!

Love, B
